August 28, 2025 — Shiyi Du, a Ph.D. student in the joint Carnegie Mellon-Univ. of Pittsburgh Ph.D. program in Computational Biology, was named one of 8 inaugural Softbank Group / Arm Ph.D. Fellows.
Shiyi was given this fellowship based on her work "designing failure-adaptive laboratory intelligence — agentic AI systems that treat experimental setbacks as opportunities for discovery. Her research explores next-generation AI systems that integrate science, technology and medicine into a self-updating platform driving biomedical innovation and more."
